The South Loop Elementary School Chess Team started as a beneficiary of the Chicago Chess Foundation Rook, Rattle & Roll program, to provide free chess access to all students. We continue to support the foundation’s mission by competing in their monthly tournaments.
Lessons will be held for all levels, allowing kids to learn with one another. Our experienced coach, Coach Isaac, and parent volunteers teach everyone the basics of the game as well as more advanced tactics and strategies to help improve their skills. Players are also encouraged to play online or at home each week to help develop their skills outside the lessons.
The team encourages everyone to compete in at least one of the
Chicago Chess Foundation’s monthly tournaments. The tournaments are on Saturdays and are fun, free and open to all Chicago elementary K-8 students to compete.
Lets work together and bring home a trophy for South Loop!
