Attention 8th grade Parents
The High school application window closes in exactly three weeks on Friday, December 11th at 11:59pm. If you have not created an account and applied please contact me so that we can schedule a meeting to do so ASAP.
For those parents who have already selected and completed an application please continue to check your email as the Office of Access and Enrollment will always send pertinent information, usually time sensitive to that address. They are sending reminders about the selective enrollment exam and you must follow all the steps with the safety protocols to avoid a delay in your child being admitted to the test session.
Also, selecting schools and submitting them is step 1 and then you must schedule the additional requirements (i.e selective enrollment exam, auditions, interviews, etc) is step 2. Log back into your application and scroll down to see if a green RSVP button is next to any schools you have selected that indicates you need to do Step 2.
I hope that you have attended the Virtual Open Houses offered by various high schools. I will continue to send this information both to the South Loop website and to your students’ google classroom pages.
Parents that are considering a Parochial/Catholic school please determine the school you would like to attend and contact them to register to take their exam on Saturday, December 5th. St. Ignatius has sent me communication stating that they will not accept another school’s scores and that if you want to be considered for a seat there you must register on their website at www.ignatius.org I have seen additional Saturday dates for this exam and please be mindful that these are dates for selective enrollment exams as well. PLEASE DO NOT Schedule both exams on the same day.
Some of the most popular Catholic schools and former South Loop students have attended:
DeLaSalle-Coed
Mount Carmel-Males
Brother Rice-Males
Mother McAuley-Females
Holy Trinity-Coed
Marist-Coed
DePaul College Prep-Coed
As always if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me mlbrewer@cps.edu
Sincerely,
