Freshman Connection is for students who have been accepted to a Chicago Public high School through the GoCPS portal.
As research strongly encourages Math, English, and team/SEL skill building to best support Freshman On Track (FOT) rates, students will receive instruction in English, Math, and School Counseling as well as have the opportunity to participate in team building, field trips, and enrichment activities. CPS Freshman on Track (FOT) Data has shown that students who participate in Freshman Connection have a higher FOT rate than non-participants.
Between June 26 – July 26, 2024, (dates vary by High School) students will:
- Meet school staff
- Learn graduation requirements and expectations
- Brush up on their study skills
- Learn techniques for coping with stress
- Get to know their new classmates through field trips and other activities
