The Chicago Lions Youth Program that brought rugby to your child’s PE class has announced the 2025-26 season!
Our Middle School Program (5th – 8th) focuses on Learning to Play (Learn the basic skills of the game), developing game skills including passing, catching, working as a team, learning the rules, and contact. They develop skills, introduce positions, and educate players on the entire game.The Middle School Program will start on August 19th. The team trains on Tuesday and Thursday evenings 5:30 – 7:00 at the Lions for Hope Sports Complex (2637 W Polk Street, Chicago, IL 60612)
Our Rookie Program has 3 levels. Mini (P-k & Kinder) Minors (1st & 2nd) & Majors (3rd & 4th). Focus on Fundamentals (learning to move), all work on passing, catching, running forward with 2 hands on the ball, and kicking. All of this is done in age-appropriate games and drills. The Rookie Program will start on September 6th. The team trains on Saturday mornings 8:00 – 9:30 at the Lions for Hope Sports Complex (2637 W Polk Street, Chicago, IL 60612)
The Chicago Lions Youth are proud to announce a new program for Fall 2025! We will
be offering Inclusive Flag Rugby. This program is offered to all children between
the ages of 10 – 18 years old who want to play rugby and would rather not play tackle
rugby. Flag Rugby will be run similarly to our Middle School Program, focusing on
Learning to Play (developing the basic skills of the game), enhancing game skills such
as passing, catching, teamwork, and understanding the rules. Players will develop skills,
be introduced to positions, and be educated on the entire game.
Training will be on Saturday mornings, 9:30 – 11:00 at the Lions for Hope Sports Complex (2637 W Polk Street, Chicago, IL 60612). The fall season will begin on September 6th. Players can come out and see if we are a good fit before registering for the season.
