As we continue to face the impact of budget constraints from CPS, we do our best to ensure that our students continue to receieve quality instruction, facilities, and programming. This is why your generosity and commitment make it possible for us to bridge these gaps. In 2007, the Friends and Family of South Loop School (FFSLS) was created as a non-profit to do just that—to ensure our students’ experiences are not diminished by financial shortfalls.
Friends and Family of South Loop School (FFSLS) is a parent-led nonprofit that mobilizes volunteers, resources, and community partnerships to support South Loop Elementary School. Our goal is to enhance every student’s educational experience by funding classroom and library resources, teacher grants, enrichment programs, and other opportunities beyond what traditional school funding can provide. Through signature fundraisers—including the Fall Fun Run, Spring Pledge Drive, Spring Benefit, and Online Auction—FFSLS raises over $100,000 each year to support these priorities. Just as importantly, we strive to build a strong, connected parent community by creating opportunities for families to volunteer, engage, and contribute to the life of the school.

Each year, due to the rising cost of books, technology, consumable instructional supplies and programs for our students, K-8 students pay a $100 school fee. This is a gentle reminder to please pay the school fee before December 1, 2026. The money collected from school fees help support programs offered to the students and resources needed for instruction.

Your contributions, including the annual school fee directly fund crucial resources like classroom and library materials, teacher grants, and enrichment programs. Our annual fundraisers- the Fall Fun Run and the Spring Benefit– also play a vital role, collectively generating over $75,000 each year.
FFSLS is working to provide as many opportunities to raise money throughout the school year such as Monthly Dine to Donate, Fall Fun Run and a Double Good Popcorn Sale.
