Important Message From Mrs. Shelton about Primary Building Traffic Flow

Dear Primary Building Families,

Now that we are in the second week of school we want to remind parents of the importance of keeping traffic on the Federal side of the building open and moving. Over the past few years, due to major concerns of covid mitigation, we utilized a policy whereby students entered different doors depending on their grade levels and homerooms.  This year, we are back to moving students into the building through our  playground, Door 2, and main entrances, and so we ask that parents who elect to drop students off on the Federal (West) side of the primary building do not park or get out of their cars at any point.  We have a combination of parent volunteers and school staff present each morning  to assist with getting students out of cars, to monitor them while they’re on the playground, and to ensure all get into the building and to their classrooms safely.

If you are uncomfortable dropping off your student, please walk to school or park nearby on State Street or Plymouth Court,  we cannot park or leave our cars for any reason.  No one wants to start the day with an argument or telling school staff “I am not moving my car”.  That is not the South Loop way, and cannot be the example we as adults set for our children.  We make South Loop the special place that it is by working together, please join us in that work by adhering to our drop off policies in order to make sure our students are arriving safely each morning.

DROP-OFF PROTOCOL

7:30 – 8:00am
Drop-Off begins. Children can play – with parent / guardian supervision – on the playground, or enter school through the southwest door (end of the playground, closest to Federal) for breakfast in the cafeteria. Any student not supervised by a guardian must report to the cafeteria. (During inclement weather, students may enter through the same doors early & wait in the cafeteria).

8:00am
Students line up in their designated class line on the playground to be escorted into the building by South Loop staff. Students in the cafeteria will be escorted by South Loop staff.

8:05am

Any students arriving after 8:05am will be marked tardy, and should be escorted by a guardian into the building through the Main Entry on Plymouth to sign-in as tardy.
