THANK YOU FROM FRIENDS AND FAMILY AND CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS!

Dear South Loop Family,

Friends and Family of South Loop School (FFSLS) extends a heartfelt thank you to our incredible community for your amazing support during our spring fundraiser this year!  We raised over $80,000, surpassing our goal of $75K and breaking our record set last year!  The combination of the Fall Fun Run and the Spring Benefit raised over $110,000.  Wow, give yourselves a high five!

These funds make a real difference throughout our school community. They help support after school classes and clubs, sports uniforms, the school musical, winter dances, library improvements, as well as basic needs like textbooks, learning material subscriptions, and teacher development.  We all know that the CPS budget does not cover everything our students and teachers need, and that’s why your support means the world to the school.

Your donations come in many forms, and we appreciate them all! From pledges during the Fall Fun Run or the Spring 3K Chicago Fire walk, auction donations and bidding, to the playbill ads, and even buying Mabel’s Labels so you can reclaim your kids’ items in the lost and found. Every contribution helps and is greatly appreciated!

Many of you also contributed your time and we are so grateful! Whether you volunteered at the Fall Fun Run or Spring Benefit and Auction, Clean and Green, Uniform Resale, Library, or Lost and Found Clean Up your efforts make a huge difference.  Volunteering with Friends and Family by serving on the Board or helping to plan an event is a great way to meet your fellow SLES community members.  Volunteer opportunities arise throughout the year and we welcome any time or talent you may be able to share.  We run a lean, mean fundraising machine but can always use some extra hands! If you have skills in accounting, IT, event planning, or a desire to pitch in – you name it, we can probably use it.  We’d love to hear from you!  Please email the board  if you would like more info or to get involved.  We could not do this without the support of our school friends and family, and it feels great to give back to our kids and the teachers!

As my term as President of the Friends and Family Board comes to a close since my 8th grader is off to high school, I want to say it has been an honor serving the school community and having the opportunity to meet so many of you at various events over the years. I can’t emphasize enough how special our community is and what a pleasure it has been to be a part of it for so many years.

I hope you all have a great summer!  Keep up the great work South Loop!

Go Lions!
