South Loop School PreK for 2020-2021

We are excited to announce for the school year 2020-2021, South Loop will be offering 1 full day preschool program for 20 – GenEd 4 year olds through Chicago Early Learning and 1 full day Tuition-based  preschool program for Sixteen – 3-4 year olds through Early Childhood Learning . Below you will find more information for both programs. 

Tuition-Based Preschool 

Chicago Public Schools Tuition Based Preschool (TBP) offers families an affordable ten-hour school-based educational program. There is a fixed tuition for all participating children.

Why Tuition Based Preschool?

The Tuition Based Preschool program provides:

  • Ten -hour school day for a fixed tuition
  • High quality preschool experience
  • A standardized curriculum: Creative Curriculum Literacy Approach is used in all classrooms, providing a research-based structure to support student growth and learning
  • Operation is the length of the CPS school year. Operating 8:00 am -6:00 pm daily
  • Enrichment activities and field trips
  • South Loop School offers a tuition –based summer camp program through our partner Youth Guidance. The program runs June- August 8:00 am – 6:00 pm daily.

Step 3: Submit an application directly to South Loop School by email or fax.

  • Once a placement is offered, a non-refundable deposit of $700 made out to “CPS Tuition Based Program” must be hand-delivered along with a copy of a parent/guardian state ID.
  • This deposit is non-refundable. At the time of a placement offer, the deposit check is cashed and the amount will be credited to the annual tuition balance.
  • Tuition based pre-school is open enrollment. You do not have to reside in the South Loop’s attendance area.

Chicago Early Learning Preschool

Chicago Early Learning Preschool Enrollment is an initiative to bring high-quality early learning opportunities for all children 3 to 5 in every area in the City of Chicago. South Loop School will offer one 4 year- old program for 2020-2021. The pre-K experience is critical, as it helps children develop the academic and life skills that will carry them into adulthood. Pre-K provides children with essential opportunities to learn and practice the social-emotional, problem-solving, and academic skills that they will use throughout their lives.

What is the enrollment system?

The Chicago Early Learning enrollment portal is called Child Outcome, Planning and Administration (COPA). All early childhood children in the City of Chicago must apply for preschool through www.chicagoearlylearning.org. No students will be allowed to enroll in a CPS preschool program without completing the online universal preschool application.

 What is the family’s process?

  • Step 1: Families apply online at www.chicagoearlylearning.org, by calling the Family Hotline at 312-229-1690 or by visiting one of our CEL Family Resource Centers and completing the online application.
  •  Step 2: Families are notified via email by CEL which states their preliminary placement offer or waitlist status.
  • Step 3: Families that have been “offered” a placement must confirm the information submitted on the application by completing the document verification process (Age, Income & Residency) at their ‘offered’ school.

South Loop School offers a tuition- based after school program through our partner, Youth Guidance. The program runs the length of the school year. Operating 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm.
