Uniform
Each child should arrive to school wearing navy blue pants, shorts, or skirts, and a white collared shirt. The temperature can be unpredictable in our classroom. So, I highly recommend bringing a solid white or solid navy sweater that can remain in the classroom. You can check the school’s website to order gym uniforms. There is not time allocated in the schedule for students to change clothes. They must also wear gym shoes in order to participate in gym activities for their safety and the maintenance of our facilities. Please be sure to label ALL items of clothing with your child’s name. This includes lunch bags and book bags.

Party Invitations
It is very important to me that we never make children feel left out. This comes up most frequently when students are planning parties for upcoming celebrations. I understand that you cannot always invite every student to parties, however, students are not allowed to pass out party invitations in the classroom unless they are inviting every child in the class.
Nut-Free and Candy-Free School
South Loop Elementary School is a gum, candy, and nut free school. Please do not send any of these items to school with your child. If you child brings a lunch to school, please confirm that it does not contain any items which contain nuts. If your child brings a “Lunchable” to school, please open the package and remove the candy, gum or nut products before sending your child to school with the “Lunchable”.
Our nut free policy includes ALL tree nuts including but not limited to: almonds, brazil nuts, cashews, chestnuts, hazelnuts, macadamia nuts, pecans, pine nuts, pistachios and walnuts. In consideration of all of our students, please refrain from ALL nut products. We have students with severe nut allergies.
