Mitchell, Paulette

I am a proud born and raised Chicagoan. I have over 39 years of teaching experience 29 with CPS. I attended NIU, SAIC, and NLU. My teaching experience began in 1983, after graduating from college I moved to Mannheim Germany where I managed an arts and crafts facility on a US Army base. While there I had the opportunity to exhibit with other Americans and German artists. Upon returning to t the US I was offered the same position at an Army Depot in Alabama. Not liking AL too much I returned home to Chicago and began a career as a community visual arts educator working for the Chicago Park District, NWAC, Afterschool Matters, and other NFPs. I’ve been in my current position at South Loop since 1994. It has been a pleasure to be here and to be a part of the school’s evolution. When it comes to art I love textiles art, sculpture, pop art, and costume design. I am a wife, a mother of 3, and a grandmother to 8. In my spare time, I engage in art-making, interior design, sewing, travel, and attending art exhibits and plays. I have always been intrigued by photography, I received a DSLR camera for Christmas and have enrolled in a digital photography class that teaches not only photography but also how to use Lightroom. I considered myself to be a Renaissance woman who has talents in various art techniques. The picture is of me having high tea in Dubin Ireland in 2019.
