A strong (cold!) finish for South Loop’s cross country team

By Ben S., 5th grade

The South Loop Cross Country Team was amazing at the Nov. 7th City Championships! It was about 15 degrees Fahrenheit outside, but our South Loop Lions kept running.

All of the team made it to the City Championships because regonials were canceled. In both 5th and 6th grade races, there were more than 150 people running. In the girls 7th and 8th grade race, there were 117 people and in the boys 7th and 8th there was 140. Here are some of the top South Loop Lions.

5th and 6th grade girls: Morgan Thielke, Kate Smaroff, Marin Benson, Salome Benson, and Ari Moore

5th and 6th grade boys: Sinan Abuzayd, Warren Mason, Chase Green, Peyton Mathen,  Ben Smaroff, and Will Stevens

7th and 8th grade girls: Karis White and Amariah Word

7th and 8th grade boys: Zach Smaroff, Sam Powers, and Blake Owens
