SLES students place at the January Chess Tournament.

The South Loop Chess Team had a great tournament over the weekend at De La Salle Institute. Nine students competed in 4 different age groups, and the team had one of our best tournament outcomes yet. Several students competed for the very first time, others tied or even improved on their best scores, and for the first time the team received 2 awards! Erik Keller – a veteran of the team – tied for 7th place in his age group and earned a medal, and PJ McAndrew and Martin Uram both competed in their first tournaments ever, taking home second place in the team competition for their age group. We’re very proud of all the players this weekend and hope to have even more kids competing next month.
