Architecture Day Camp with I-NOMA

Each year, we at the Illinois Chapter of the National Organization of Minority Architects (I-NOMA) hosts an architecture day camp to introduce students to the design professions to promote diversity in the field of architecture; this is part of a national initiative called Project Pipeline. Here is a link to our website that talks about our camp opportunity.

I-NOMA Summer Camp

We are excited to share that we’ll be returning to Crown Hall for our 2023 Project Pipeline Summer Camp! Camp will be hosted at IIT Crown Hall from July 26th-30th.

Our mission is to empower young people to affect change in their community through design. Using the city as the classroom, and connecting young people to real world architects and planners, we foster the next generation of design professionals, civic leaders, and change makers.  We advocate for fellowship, equity, and excellence in design.

We guide students through all stages of design using provoking and fun exercises. Students investigate through drawing and model building, analyze through diagramming and engage through site visits. By the program’s conclusion, students present a fully realized design project that addresses an issue in their city.

Our in-person camp is open to students within the 6th through 8th grade who reside in the Chicagoland area.  Students who just completed the eighth grade, as well as students entering the 6th grade are eligible.

Typical Registration is $75 per student and this includes lunch and snacks each day, student shirts, and materials. There are no additional costs beyond registration.
We hope that you’ll share this opportunity with the families and youths that you serve! We do offer a limited number of full scholarships for camp as well. If the need exists, families can email to inquire further.
