Listed below is a timeline summary of GoCPS results, acceptance and waitlist processes. I highly encourage you to attend one of the following family training sessions in order to have a complete understanding of how the GoCPS processes listed above work. - GoCPS platform closed Monday, February 9 – Friday February 13th
- Results released on Friday, February 13th and Appeals process OPENS
- Wednesday, February 18th Principal Discretion (PD) application OPENS
- Friday, March 6th Acceptance Offer DEADLINE and PD application CLOSES
- GoCPS platform closed Monday, March 9 – Friday, March 13th
- Friday, March 13th Appeals process CLOSES
- Monday, March 30th Rolling Waitlists OPENS
- Friday, April 10th PD results released
Parents, I highly encourage you to accept an offer. Here’s an example of what it could look like.
Your student receives two offers. Your 3rd ranked selective enrollment offer and your 4th ranked school offer under the choice category. Between these two offers you accept the selective enrollment offer. Your choice offer is automatically declined. You will remain on the waitlist for your 1st-3rd ranked choice offers. You decide to submit a PD application for your 1st ranked selective enrollment school. You receive an offer from your 2nd ranked choice school on Friday April 3rd which you accept. Thus, the newly accepted offer has replaced your original selective enrollment offer. You are still on the waitlist for the 1st ranked choice program. Finally, you receive that PD offer on April 10th and you accept that offer and of course again your 2nd ranked choice offer is replaced.
Hopefully, you can clearly see in my example above that you can ONLY hold one offer/seat at a time. Every time you receive an offer it will replace the existing offer. All while remaining on the waitlist for any higher ranked schools until the 20th day of high school in the Fall or if you REMOVE yourself from the waitlist due to receiving your most wanted offer/seat.
However, if you DO NOT ACCEPT an initial offer by the DEADLINE of Friday, March 6th ANY and ALL OFFERS are automatically DECLINED. NO ONE at the school or at the district level will be able to retrieve that offer. Furthermore, your child will be automatically attached in ASPEN to their neighborhood school which is based upon your residential address.
