Attention 8th grade Parents
High school connection (HSC) supports students in their transition to high school by introducing them to staff and classmates, familiarizing them with graduation requirements and academic expectations, and equipping them with study strategies and stress management techniques. For students who will be attending a CPS high school in the fall.
As research strongly encourages students to build their skills in math, ELA, and socio-emotional skill building, students will receive instruction in those subjects as well as go on field trips, meet their classmates, and learn about their new high school. CPS 9th grade data shows that students who participate in High School Connection pass more classes than non-participants.
To kick off the transition to high school, please complete the [HSC Interest Form HERE].
- Function: Students select “Yes, No, or Maybe” to indicate interest. Also please list South Loop as your current school.
- Matching: Students do not select a specific program; GoCPS and OSCPA (District Counseling and Postsecondary Office) will partner to match students to their projected (accepted offer) high schools.
- Timeline: Programs run June 22 – July 31, 2026. Each school will have their own unique schedule.
- More information will be provided by your High School before summer 2026
