We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and week filled with gratitude, relaxation, and time with loved ones. With Black Friday shopping deals, we wanted to remind you of our annual toy and clothing drive. It’s the perfect way to kick of this holiday season.
Deadline to donate is December 15, 2025
South Loop Elementary offers an exciting organization by the name of National Junior Beta Club to develop student leadership. As a Beta member, students are responsible for bettering their school, community, and world. This is done by engaging in community service activities within their community or other communities in need.
The Beta Club is asking for your commitment to giving this holiday season. We are collecting winter clothing and new toys.
Items can be dropped off or delivered to 1915 S. Federal Street 60616, 1212 S. Plymouth Ct 60605, or 1601 South Dearborn Street 60616
You can ship items directly to the school: Attention Mrs. Tara Shelton, your child’s teacher and your child’s name.
We are asking for donations of new and/or clean gently used children and adult size winter coats and a donation of $1 to purchase one toy per classroom.
Each grade level is also asked to donate the following winter clothing item:
Preschool- 1 package of undershirts-children size
Kdg – winter hat
1st- pair of gloves
2nd – winter hat
3rd – pair of socks
4th- 1 package of undershirts-children size
5th – 1 package of undershirts -adult size
6th – pair of gloves
7th- pair of socks
8th- scarf
For the toy drive, we are asking families to donate a new toy or game OR to give $1+ to homeroom teachers to purchase a new toy on behalf of the class.
