Covid-19 Testing

Dear CPS Families and Staff,

We hope that you are having an enjoyable spring break. As we get ready to return to school on Monday, April 10, please keep COVID-19 precautions in mind so we can keep our school communities safe and healthy — especially as many are celebrating holidays with loved ones over the break.

Get Tested for COVID-19

As we have seen in years past, COVID-19 spreads more rapidly when students and staff are gathering outside of the classroom on school breaks. Before returning to class on Monday, we highly encourage everyone to test for COVID-19.

If you did not receive an at-home COVID-19 test from school before spring break, tests are also available for free at all Chicago Public Libraries through Sunday, April 9. Click here to find your local branch.

You can also get tests at many medical providers, pharmacies, grocery stores, and other locations. You can also request free rapid at-home COVID tests from the government at covid.gov/tests; however, these tests may not arrive in time to test before returning to school.

Stay Home If You Feel Sick or Test Positive

Please stay home and test for COVID-19 if you feel sick, even if your symptoms are mild or you don’t think you have the virus.

If a staff member or student tests positive for COVID-19, please report the positive test at cps.edu/covidresults and follow the guidance here.

Thank you for helping keep our school communities healthy and safe, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Monday, April 10.
