Attention Current 3rd-8th Grade Parents & Students,
Each year, 4th-8th grade middle school students can select which fine arts class they would like to attend for the school year. This year, students will select their top two choices for a fine arts elective. Parents, please have a discussion with your child prior to assigning them to a fine arts class.
Student requests will be honored on a first-come basis. Please realize that students may not receive their first choice. Once assigned to a fine arts elective group, students will remain in that group for the entire school year and will attend all specials classes (P.E. & Media) with the same group of students. Requests to change electives because a student did not receive their first choice, or has changed their mind, will not be honored.
Elective groups will be announced the first week of August. Students will be placed in one of the following groups:
Group A = Art
Group B = Band
Group C = Choral Music
Please complete this form (https://tinyurl.com/SY23-Fine-Arts-Electives) to indicate the student’s top two choices for a fine arts elective. Parents must be signed in through their child’s CPS account in order to access the form.
Forms must be completed by Friday, June 17, 2022 at 5:00 PM. Students who do not complete the form by the deadline will be assigned to a fine arts class by administrators.
Note:
Current 3rd grade students may have to rent their own instruments to participate in band. Mr. Zettl will not enroll students in 4th grade who do not return a signed parent consent. Those forms will be passed out to 4th grade students at the beginning of the next school year.
Incoming 7th & 8th grade students who have not had at least 1 year of training on a musical instrument, may not select band as their fine arts elective.
