LSC: Parent Member Vacancy

If you are interested in serving on the Local School Council as a parent representative for the term of September 2020- January 2021, please hand-deliver the application along with two forms of identification to the Middle School building on Monday – Friday between 8:30 am – 1:00 pm.  Applications are due before 1:00 pm on August 31st. Due to Covid applications will be accepted at the main entrance door only. No email or fax copies will be accepted. The new member will be selected during the September 16th LSC meeting. Serving on a Local School Council (LSC) provides a unique opportunity to become engaged in your school community and play an active role in making policy decisions affecting your school. LSCs are critical to ensuring positive student outcomes and a dynamic school environment. Parent member candidates must have a child enrolled in the school. The forms to be completed and filed to run as a candidate for LSC are:  Candidate Nomination Form (Form 1-20)  Criminal Conviction Disclosure Form (Form 2-20)  Telephone Number Disclosure Form (Form 3-20)  Candidate Statement Form (Form 4-20) (Optional)

LSCs are responsible for:

  • Monitoring the school improvement plan— also known as their school’s CIWP.
  • Monitoring the school’s budget and expenditures.
  • Evaluating their school’s principal annually, as well as selecting a new contract principal for their school or renewing the contract of their current principal.
