South Loop Elementary School Fall Sports 2023 – Girls & Boys, Grades 5-8

SLES will be participating in the following CPS sports for Fall: Cross Country (Boys & Girls), Soccer (Boys), and Volleyball (Boys & Girls).

Please see below for information and registration for each sport. Mrs. Shelton will make final approvals for students participating in school sponsored teams. 

Cross Country (Boys & Girls):

  • Registration: Registration will be outside Mr. Doyle’s office at 8:00 am on Monday, August 21.
    • Practices: Tu/Th, 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm at Cotton Tail Park (all grades/genders)
  • There is no limit to the number of athletes on the team.

Soccer (Boys):

Team participation is available to the first 20 registrants in each age categoryto maintain adequate coach to athlete ratios and best manage practicesMust have a minimum of 15 athletes to field a team. A waitlist will be maintained in case one of the original 20 registrants is no longer able to participate.

Before registering, please note practice information as attendance at team practice is required. Dates for CPS League competitive games will be provided once available.

  • Grade 5/6: Practice Tu/Th, 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm
  • Grade 7/8: Practice Tu/Th, 5:15 pm – 6:15 pm OR Wed/Fri after 5pm (Still TBD)

Volleyball (Boys & Girls)

Team participation is limited to 12 athletes in each age/gender category to maintain adequate coach-to-athlete ratios and best manage practices/gamesThis league is competitive and coaches will determine a Varsity and Junior Varsity Team if there are over 9 players who register to join the team.

Tryouts to determine Girl Varsity players will be Tues, Aug 29 at 3:30 pm at the Middle School Gym. The remaining 3 slots will be selected by lottery from the remaining registrants. The full team will practice and scrimmage together at each practice and the Varsity players (Score+) will play in the regular season CPS games. A waitlist will be maintained in case up as one of the 12 is no longer able to participate.

Volleyball Registration:

Registration is to indicate interest in the team and tryouts, but does not guarantee your athlete a place on the team.
