Volunteerism is absolutely vital to our school, and we need YOU to help make the magic happen!
Lending your time to support the school supports a lot of what what makes our school special! It fosters a strong connection between home and school in the spirit of cooperation and collaboration. And it creates opportunities for our students that may be impossible without your contribution.

Below you will find the needs for committee leads and FFSL members to kick off this new school year. Please review and consider joining in!
Family Involvement Group Volunteer Needs:
Please contact Jaclyn via if interested in the FIG volunteer roles.
* Safety Patrol Chair or Co-Chairs
- Safety Patrol Coordinators ensure there are enough volunteers throughout the month to streamline student drop-off and pick-up.
- The chair(s) would manage the sign ups and send reminders to classrooms to recruit parent helpers to open car doors, usher students, and direct traffic flow.
- This role would also involve sharing safety reminders (such as the map of the traffic pattern) to the SLES Families Facebook Group.
Also needed: Volunteers for Safety Patrol in the mornings at each location. Please send an email for more info!
Friends and Family of South Loop Volunteer Needs:
The email to contact would be if anyone is interested in discussing these roles.* Fall Fun Run, Event Chair or Co-Chairs(Event date: Sunday, October 26, 2025)
- Coordinate event logistics for the Fall Fun Run (book DJ, coordinate shirt design, order shirts, help manage event day registration, etc.)
- Work closely with Director of Fundraising to meet fundraising goals (~$30K)
- Work closely with Director of Communications to develop communication plan to keep families informed and engaged about the event
* Spring Fundraisers (Spring Benefit, Chicago Fire Game), Event Chair or Co-Chairs
(May 2026, TBD)
- Coordinate event logistics for the Spring Benefit and the Chicago Fire Game (Spring Benefit: event theme, venue, catering, DJ, help manage event day set up; Chicago Fire Game and Walk: coordinate tickets with Chicago Fire, shirt design, order walk shirts, help manage ticket distribution)
- Work closely with Director of Fundraising to meet fundraising goals (~$75K)
- Work closely with Director of Communications to develop communication plan to push ticket sales and keep families engaged
